I don't make New Year's resolutions. It's not that I find it bad to make resolutions, but it seems that by the second or third week of the new year, those who have made any kind of promises to themselves have broken with their resolution.
I look at the opportunity of a new year and see what might be and ask myself if I am willing to do what it takes in order to make sure that this year is better than the last year. 2008 was a challenge in all areas of my life. Those challenges have not changed going into 2009 but I am working on improvements and I am grateful to those who walk with me and encourage me each step of the way, not just at the beginning of a new year.
I have those who encourage me personally, spiritually, and professionally. These are people who I will be forever grateful to and they have made huge impacts on my life. I welcome the challenges of 2009 because I have family and friends who walk beside me and cheer me on!
If I have one resolution I would like to see happen more in my life, it would be that I become more of an encourager to others and show them Jesus' love through my actions. That is a tall order to live up to, but one I strive to see happen daily in 2009!
