Getting Out of the Boat

Getting out of the boat is the theme we will are talking about at our church over the next couple of months. The scary thing about getting out of the boat we are in is the very thought of sinking straight to the bottom!

As I was thinking about what could happen when we get out of the boat two images come to mind. The first is from the movie- "The Perfect Storm" and the second is from the movie- "Blue Crush". Both of these involve water and waves but the outcome is completely different. I have a tendency to think that if I get out of the boat in my life then I will be swallowed up by the giant wave, but rather if I get out of my boat and learn to keep my eyes on Jesus I will be able to ride the perfect wave!

Both involve water and getting wet, both involve giant waves, yet what makes the difference is our position to the water and waves once we step out of the boat. I need to remember that Jesus is calling me to get out of my comfort and go for it.

Getting wet will happen when you get on the water and the ride will be challenging, but the end result of getting out of the boat will be an experience that we will never regret. Are you ready to get out of the boat with me?
